Opposition mounts to southeast rail closures
Opposition to Iarnród Eireann's proposed closure of railway lines in the southeast appears to be gaining momentum.
A cross-section of the community, including politicians and business people, turned out at a meeting last night to express their anger.
It is claimed that hundreds of jobs and livelihoods are at risk.
Wexford Irish Farmers' Association (IFA) chairman JJ Kavanagh has said public concern is widespread.
"We also must recognise the fact that many people use this service to get to work in Waterford and southeast Wexford. People are very worried and determined to ensure this doesn't happen," he said.
