SDLP: 'Orde concerned about Stormont raid'
The chief constable of the North’s police service, Hugh Orde, has expressed concerns about last Friday’s raid on Sinn Féin’s offices at Stormont, according to the SDLP’s Alex Atwood.
Speaking after a meeting with Mr Orde, Mr Atwood said the chief constable has concerns about the “style and nature” of the raid and hopes to provide a further explanation of the events sooner rather than later.
Sinn Féin has described last Friday’s operation as a "politically-motivated stunt designed to undermine the peace process".
The raid, which led to several arrests, was part of an investigation into alleged intelligence gathering by the IRA.
However, Sinn Féin has pointed out that none of the evidence presented so far in court related to the material seized during the Stormont raid.
