The group representing Irish Travel Agents is asking Aer Lingus to rescind its decision to cut commission paid to its members.

The airline is announcing profits of €40m, which the ITAA says has been boosted by the reduction in commission. Aer Lingus is also cutting it’s fares to business passengers.

Association President, Tony Brazil, says while that is a welcome development, the airline must increase payments to travel agents.

"We hear also the same reference from Aer Lingus today that they are going to have profits of €40m. We are also calling on the airline to rescind their commission cuts because it is no longer valid the case they are making that they needed this to help boost their profits."
