As farmers step up their protests over meat prices this evening, they are being warned that their actions are putting Ireland's beef industry at risk.

The Irish Farmers Association are protesting against low meat prices. The group claim that factory owners are manipulating the costs.

But the IMA say that farmers are being irresponsible.

Chief Executive John Smith insists that the protests and actions by the farmers are damaging not only for processors but for the protestors in the short, medium and long-term.
