Teenager still critical at Letterkenny hospital

A teenage girl is still in a critical condition at Letterkenny General Hospital after being found unconscious in a field in Co Donegal beside her dead friend yesterday.

The pair were discovered near Lifford and one of them, 14-year-old Geraldine Chambers, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other girl was revived and taken to hospital, where she was moved to intensive care yesterday evening after her condition deteriorated.

Hospital officials have described her condition as critical, but stable.

A post mortem was carried out on the dead girl’s body yesterday, but the results have not been made public.

Gardai have ruled out foul play and are not seeking anybody in relation to the incident.
