The Labour Party has launched the second installment of its five-part election manifesto.

Today the party announced the key areas of its social agenda for the next five years.

Healthcare and education are top of Labour’s priorities, with the party promising free GP services to everyone.

It said the cost of this proposal would be offset by a shift in primary care away from hospitals to

GPs.

Labour has also pledged to establish a universal system of healthcare insurance, with the State paying 100% of health costs for those whose incomes are below a certain threshold.

On education, the party has vowed to guarantee pre-school places for all children between three and four years old and to prioritise efforts to tackle educational disadvantage.
