Flanagan says UDA was involved in Belfast riots

RUC chief constable Ronnie Flanagan has said he has no doubt that last night’s rioting in north Belfast was orchestrated by local elements of the Ulster Defence Association.

33 RUC officers were injured after the loyalist rioters fired 50 gunshots at police lines. Six blast bombs, 125 petrol bombs, fireworks, stones and bottles were also thrown at the RUC in some of the most violent scenes in the six counties in the last 20 years.
