The Food Safety Authority has confirmed the withdrawal of two baby food products manufactured in Limerick, from supermarket shelves.

The Food Safety Authority has confirmed the withdrawal of two baby food products manufactured in Limerick, from supermarket shelves.

Batches of SMA Gold and SMA White infant food, which have best before dates of October 28, 2001 and November 28, 2001, are being withdrawn following an incident in the UK.

One batch of SMA Gold is linked to a case of botulism found in a young child, who subsequently made a full recovery.

SMA White and SMA Gold are produced by Wyeth Nutritionals in Askeaton, Co Limerick.

The company employs more than 500 people in Limerick and is one of the largest milk purchasers in the Munster region.

The company supplies more than 40 markets in Europe the Middle East and the Far East.
