Speculation that election will be held in autumn mounts
There is mounting speculation that the country may have a general election in the autumn, although the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is not expected to make a final decision until this September.
Mr Ahern is expected to call a special meeting of the Fianna Fail party a week before the Dail resumes to decide if they should bring the country to the polls this year.
