Teachers sceptical about exam plan

The union representing the majority of secondary school teachers has given a sceptical reaction to news that the Government is planning to establish a new authority to run the state exams.

The move, which will be considered by the Government before the summer break, could reduce the role of teachers in the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate.
