O' Donoghue to sign agreement in Warsaw
The Minister for Justice, John O' Donoghue, is in Warsaw today where he will sign a re-admission agreement on behalf of Ireland with the government in Poland.
One of the provisions of the treaty allows Polish citizens who are living in Ireland to re-enter Poland without authorisation.
Under the agreement, foreign nationals who arrived in Poland seeking asylum in Ireland and who are residing here without authorisation will be allowed to return to their homeland more freely.
Minister O' Donoghue says this agreement will make an important contribution to tackling the trend in illegal immigration which is affecting all EU states, including Ireland.
