Longford child abduction investigation

Gardai in Longford are appealing for information in relation to the attempted kidnapping of a child yesterday evening.

The girl was walking in the Drumlish area when she was approached by a man in a dark coloured van.

The driver offered her a lift home and when she refused he grabbed her and brandished what is thought may have been a knife.

The abductor was startled by the appearance of another car and drove off; police are hoping to talk to the other driver.
