Kilkenny man to be new Macra na Feirme president

A 31-year-old farmer from Co Kilkenny has been elected the 29th President of Macra na Feirme.

Seamus Phelan of Smithstown, Tullogher, Co Kilkenny, is a dairy, beef, tillage and sheep farmer.

Mr Phelan's priorities during his two-year term include maximising Macra's position as a social partner to lobby for the needs of young farmers and to develop the role of Macra in the community.

He takes over the reigns on May 13th.
