Tragic freeze victims buried

The funerals of three young victims of the big freeze will take place in Monaghan and Dublin today. Hundreds of mourners are expected to attend the funerals.

Two communities in different parts of the country will be united in grief following a weekend which saw three young girls lose their lives in weather-related accidents. In Monaghan, 12-year old Louise McAloon, and her 10-year old cousin Veronica, will be buried after a funeral mass in their local church. The bodies of the two girls were recovered from Lake Hollywood near Scotstown on Monday. It’s believed they fell through melting ice while skating on Sunday afternoon. In Swords, mourners will be attending the funeral of 16-year old Kim Archibold, who died in a toboggan accident at a local park.
