An 89-year-old sister-in-law of the late well-known Limerick solicitor, Gordon Holmes, is distressed over her son-in-law taking her to court in a dispute over a property in the holiday resort of Kilkee.

At the Clare Registrar’s court, Derek Sheahan BL, counsel for Colette Holmes, applied that the court action being taken by Bill Hanly against Mrs Holmes and two of her sons be assigned an early trial date as the woman is elderly.

Mr Sheahan handed a letter into court from Mrs Holmes’ GP “underlining the distress that this is causing her — the plaintiff, Mr Hanly is her son-in-law”.
