A close-knit Midlands town has been plunged into shock after an 11-year-old boy died following a collision with a car while he was cycling to school yesterday.

Tim Ross was making his way to Tubber National School, about 5km outside his home town of Moate, Co Westmeath, when he was involved in a collision. He had just started back at school in recent days.

The incident happened on the old Dublin to Galway road in Marsh-brook, Co Offaly, at around 9.15am.
