People Before Profit claims “conservative forces” have led to the cancellation of a public meeting the party was due to hold last night on the subject of abortion.

The party said it was due to hold a meeting in Parnell’s GAA club in Coolock Village, at which it would call for a repeal of the Eighth Amendment, which gives a right to life to the unborn.

However, Dublin city councillor John Lyons said the GAA club cancelled the meeting some four hours before it was due to take place, and claimed the club said it had received complaints.
