A fire in a Cork City restaurant which forced the evacuation of around 100 people from overhead apartments could have been started deliberately, gardaí believe.

They hope witnesses with mobile-phone video or photos might help provide a breakthrough after revealing the blaze at Camden Quay on June 8 started in suspicious circumstances.

Cork City Fire Brigade was called to the scene at N Square Steakhouse & Seafood Restaurant around 5.30am on Wednesday. Nobody was injured, but six fire teams were required to tackle the blaze, which engulfed the restaurant.
