A man is due to appear in court this morning after a 64-year-old Irish woman was found dead at her home in the Netherlands on Monday. Police are treating the death of the woman in the city of den Bosch as suspicious.
Leinster House is to beef up its security. It is on foot of a "material escalation in the level of threat to a member". The new measures will include a scanning system for all visitors, increased lighting and a limit of five visitors per member.
Irish MEPs will this morning be allowed 15 minutes to question the President of the ECB, Mario Draghi, about the Irish banking crisis. Mr Draghi will be in the European Parliament in Brussels this morning, where Fine Gael MEP for Dublin Brian Hayes, Independent MEP for Midlands North West Marian Harkin and Sinn Féin MEP for Midlands North West Matt Carthy will be given five minutes each to question him on the ECB’s actions surrounding Ireland’s bailout programme.
