Daniel O’Sullivan appeared again at Cork District Court yesterday by video link from prison.

On the application of Insp Adrian Gamble, Judge John King remanded the accused in custody with consent to High Court bail until November 5 at Cork District Court.

So far, Mr O’Sullivan has not taken up his High Court bail. It was indicated yesterday that if he does take it up there may be an adjournment of several weeks to allow time for preparation of the book of evidence.

Insp. Gamble indicated it was a lengthy investigation in which 70 witness statements had already been taken.

Mr O’Sullivan, with an address at Carrowkeel in Mallow, is charged with unlawfully killing Vincent Morgain, aged 37, on Lower Oliver Plunkett St in Cork on September 10.

Defence solicitor Eddie Burke previously applied to have prison authorities directed to have a psychiatric evaluation carried out on Mr O’Sullivan while he was in custody.

Mr Morgain was a native of Brittany and he died in the Mercy University Hospital on September 15.
