Cause of teen’s death after disco is ‘undetermined’

The autopsy was carried out yesterday afternoon by assistant State Pathologist, Michael Curtis.

Garda Inspector Pat O’Donnell has confirmed that the result of the autopsy was “undetermined.”

He added that they will now have to wait for toxicology reports to determine how 17-year-old Tory died.

The Leaving Cert pupil collapsed and died after a night out with friends on Tuesday evening at the Voodoo Nightclub.

Tory first collapsed in the club and was taken out for some air by security staff. She was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital but died just after 6.30am amid reports that she suffered a number of seizures.

A full Garda investigation has been launched and Insp O’Donnell said the incident was being treated as a “sudden death.” He asked anyone with Tory on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning to come forward.

Meanwhile, Tory’s uncle Joe Dorian, a local Garda sergeant, revealed that it was only Tory’s second ever time going to a disco.

“I know everyone will naturally say that someone was really nice and special but Tory really was,” said Sgt Dorian. “She was such a good girl.

“She lived for fashion, make-up, and school and she was so intelligent and popular.

“This was only her second real ‘adult’ disco if you want to call it that. She is from such a good family and she would have been such a kind and well-behaved girl.”
