VIDEO: Ellie Goulding stuns starry-eyed crowd at Live at the Marquee
It was Niamh’s first ever concert and she was buzzing with excitement along with all the other young ones – no shortage of hot pants, selfies and spray tans here – that had flocked to see the Herefordshire-born singer/songwriter in action. It was a largely young, primarily female, demographic –tweens, teens, 20-somethings and a smattering of parents overseeing the proceedings.
Young and young-at-heart, we certainly weren’t disappointed – she blew the crowd away.
Cork I loved that so much... THANK YOU! here's us all nervous pre show, me and my beautiful team! https://t.co/41BIL2SGvl

Reviews of Goulding’s concerts have historically been a little mixed and I wasn’t sure what to expect. There has been some criticism that her musical direction is a little confused, with her earlier folk-inflected style morphing into electro/indie pop.
Her style is certainly eclectic but, for me, that’s her selling point.
She can turn her hand to anything, writes all her own music, is a multi-instrumentalist and has the energy to keep the crowd buzzing for the entire set.
She’s a diva with a capital D, with an amazing, mesmerising voice and lyrics that appeal to fans of all ages.
Dressed like a real rock chick in black shorts and leather short-sleeve jacket, there was no down time in last night’s show.
With Goulding it’s all about the music, the voice, the instruments and the performance.
She had an excellent backing band, a great rapport with the crowd and stormed through the hits, kicking off with Outside and racing into Animal and Goodness Gracious, the crowd went mad for the catchy Starry-Eyed - one of her bigger hits from her early days - and Midas Touch.
@elliegoulding @LATMofficial was absolutely amazing tonight #LATM15 pic.twitter.com/KUffzTzGQ7

The crowd was mesmerised by her haunting version of the Elton John classic Your Song – a massive hit for her in 2010 and one that she performed at the wedding reception of Prince William and Kate Middleton in Buckingham Palace the following year.
However, it was Burn and Anything Could Happen, two big hits from her second album Halcyon in 2012, that really whipped the crowd into a frenzy, while her rendition of Love Me Like You Do – the hit song from the Fifty Shades of Grey movie – was the ultimate crowd-pleaser.
A great night – all boosted by the decent-ish weather –and fantastic first concert experience for my starry-eyed tweenie. Awesome indeed.
