Force awakens for fans of Star Wars saga

Millions of Star Wars fans have been given a taster of the new film as the first trailer is unveiled — a whole year ahead of the next instalment of the sci-fi saga. 

Fans will be reassured to see familiar favourites like the Millennium Falcon, but with no sign of the Kery-filmed footage, some are wondering if the scenes shot in Ireland this summer have been left on the cutting room floor.

Cast and crew from the movie — including director JJ Abrams and Mark Hamill — were on Skellig Michael in July amid tight security.
