A woman who was sexually assaulted at the age of five or six was so afraid that somebody at her wedding would recognise some sign of her being an abuse victim that she took anti-depressants just to get through the day.

The woman said her husband knew before they married what had been done to her but she said yesterday: “I had to take anti-depressants to get through my special day. I was afraid people would see something and recognise that I was a sexual assault victim.

“Michael Wyse destroyed my early childhood. I am on anti-depressants and anxiety medication to this day.”
