Politicians have expressed disappointment and a sense of helplessness at a decision by the National Ambulance Service to cut the number of ambulances based at a Co Tipperary town.

Despite a High Court agreement made when Our Lady’s Hospital in Cashel was downgraded, the town will no longer have two ambulances based in it, according to a TD who saw a letter from the National Ambulance Service to Siptu confirming the roster change.

Independent TD Mattie McGrath said: “This is the worst possible outcome for the people of south Tipperary and all those who have come to rely on the availability of ambulance cover from Our Lady’s.
