IGB contradicts previous statements

A defence document the Irish Greyhound Board has given to the Public Accounts Committee to explain its €23m Limerick stadium development contradicts original records and statements.

IGB contradicts previous statements

Its new account also conflicts with statements it made regarding its gentleman’s agreement with Limerick Race Company, who sold it the land. And in its document to the PAC, it has supplied a different figure for the agreed land price from the one it previously relied on. It also appears to have given the PAC an incomplete account of how it treated legal advice.

It said its solicitors were present at a meeting on Jan 18, 2008, when the terms of the agreement were set out between it and LRC. In fact, solicitors were kept out of the room for the controversial issues. “Legal advice changed, after the first project meeting on Jan 18, 2008, which allowed the IGB legal team, who were present at this meeting, to clearly understand all aspects of the site purchase,” it told the PAC.
