Council chamber revamp to cost €250k

The main meeting chamber at Kerry county council will have to be re-aligned to house the greater number of councilors after the next local elections at an estimated cost of a €250,000.

A mobile translation unit is being installed to facilitate Chinese and French visitors, along with the west Kerry and Iveragh Irish, a meeting was told yesterday.

The abolition of its three town councils is leading to six extra councillors in Kerry.
