Bundles of joy bring festive cheer
Her mum, Susan Flinter, was just about to serve dinner to husband, Aidan, and 22-month old daughter, Gia, when she went into labour.
Susan was due on Dec 18 and had been taken into Letterkenny General Hospital on Christmas Eve.
However, her doctor was happy for her to spend Christmas with her family and Susan was delighted to be able to be there when Santa came to Gia.
“The thought of Santa coming to my daughter Gia and me not being there was too much. We were waiting so much for him.”
However, there was no time for dinner when the contractions started on Christmas Day — Susan arrived at Letterkenny General Hospital at 3,05pm and Kailee arrived 40 minutes later weighing 7lbs 2oz.
“Aidan was very cool and cleaned up some of the dishes but I knew we didn’t have time for dinner — even if it was Christmas dinner,” she said.
Susan, who will leave hospital today , has promised to have a late festive dinner with her extended family.
“I think we’ll have to try again and hopefully this time there will be no interruptions. I was looking forward to my dinner but now we have the perfect Christmas present and everyone is healthy and happy.”
Meanwhile, Sarah Bodea became the first baby born at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin on Christmas Day at 12.15am, weighing 7lbs 2oz. Sarah joins her parents, Melania and Valantin Bodea, at home in Maynooth, Co Kildare, and is their first child.
Elsewhere, Sienna Jackson weighed 7lbs 3oz when she was born at 1.18am on Christmas Day at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, much to the delight of her mother, Lucinda and father, Alan, from Borrisocane, Co Tipperary.
Iona Neasau from Cork gave birth to baby girl, Alessa Mary, weighing 7lb 6oz at 2.12am on Christmas Day, while Fiona O’Leary from Castletownroche, Co Cork, gave birth to a little girl, weighting 7lb 9oz a few hours later at 6.10am.
Both babies arrived at Cork University Hospital.
