A number of cash for gold and cash converter shops are being investigated by gardaí for handling stolen goods.

Gardaí probe cash for gold outlets

Gardaí are concerned at the proliferation of the non-regulated outlets and say they are a significant destination for goods, especially jewellery, which has been stolen in house burglaries.

A Garda spokesman confirmed yesterday that they have submitted three files to the DPP following investigations involving stolen goods which have been traded in outlets in the mid-west which buy gold and second-hand goods.
