US healthcare firm to create up to 200 jobs in Waterford
Nypro Healthcare’s facility will manufacture advanced respiratory and injectable devices for global healthcare and pharmaceutical clients.
The company already has a facility in Bray, Co Wicklow, which has been in operation since 1980 and which employs 400 people.
Healthcare automation engineers and technicians, healthcare quality engineers and technicians, operations managers, team leaders, as well as programme managers and operators will be sought for the new facility.
James O’Gorman, vice president of drug delivery and diagnostics at Nypro, said its healthcare business had grown significantly.
“Our latest growth phase is built upon the skills, work ethic, creativity and drive of our Nypro Ireland team,” he said at the announcement of the facility.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny said Nypro’s investment in Waterford was a massive vote of confidence for the region bringing new, high-quality jobs.
“The recent experience of Nypro — reinvention and refocusing on growing sectors — resonates with the wider Irish economy. Through the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs we are refocusing the entire economy back to exports, enterprise and innovation,” he said.
Barry O’Leary, chief executive of IDA Ireland, said Nypro’s new facility was to be located in a key regional location.
He said the development and manufacture of drug delivery devices which are key target areas for IDA Ireland and would further add to Ireland’s growing expertise in those areas.”
