Juror faces contempt after seeing details on Facebook

A trial by judge and jury collapsed in Cork when it emerged one of the jurors went on Facebook and saw background information related to one of the accused.

The foreman of the jury brought it to the attention of the trial judge, Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin, that the female juror had seen certain matters on the internet.

The judge is now considering the question of holding her in contempt of court for her behaviour.
