The Government is hoping a significant number of public service workers take up new redundancy package offers as talks continue on a new Croke Park deal, according to Social Protection Minister Joan Burton.

The deputy Labour leader also said the public sector needed to maintain a high level of productivity similar to the private sector.

She was speaking as the Cabinet prepares today to discuss a new round of redundancy terms for at least 2,300 workers.
