Death of single man not thought suspicious

Gardaí do not believe there was anything suspicious about the death of a man whose body was found in a house on Saturday night after a relative became concerned about his welfare.

Death of single man not thought suspicious

An autopsy carried out yesterday afternoon on the body of Gregory Yearsley, 47, confirmed there was nothing suspicious about his death.

Gardaí did not release the results of the autopsy, performed by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy at Waterford Regional Hospital.

Originally from Dublin, Mr Yearsley had been living in Waterford for some time and is believed to have been renting a house on Alexander Street, near the city centre, where he lived alone.

It’s understood a relative tried unsuccessfully to contact the single man on Saturday, then rang gardaí to express worries about Mr Yearsley’s welfare.

Gardaí found his body at about 7.40pm, lying on a floor in the house.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body brought to the mortuary at the regional hospital.
