Virtual bookstore launched

Having started its business with news stalls in train stations across Ireland in the late-1800s, the Eason chain has gone back to the future to launch the country’s first Virtual Book Shop at Connolly Station in Dublin.

Virtual bookstore launched

Eason promises a shopping experience like no other through its first mobile store where commuters can buy books by scanning the Quick Response barcode on the book with their smart phone.

The Virtual Book Shop looks similar to the shelves in Eason stores, displaying images of book covers, each of which incorporate a QR code that, when scanned by the customer with their smart phone, will bring them to an online mobile shop where they can purchase the book.
