CityHook airport app expected to really take off
Two former UCD students have developed a free app which will help ease that particular traveller dilemma.
Kevin O’Shaughnessy and Tomasso Solesin have collated all the travel information for 130 different airports and presented them in an app for iPhone and Android smartphones.
The app, CityHook, has examined transport links between the airports and a nearby city and worked out the best options in terms of journey time, cost and drop-off location.
Kevin O’Shaughnessy said they “both love to travel” and the idea was born out of their frustration at having to work out how the cheapest and best way to get to the nearest town.
“We believed other passengers had similar experiences and that’s when the idea of CityHook emerged. We decided that there must be a solution which organises airport transport information and makes that final part of the journey from an airport into a city centre easier and less stressful.”
“We’ve tried to ensure that all the information we collated is presented then in an easy-to-read format.
“Currently, we are focusing on growing our product by adding additional destinations within Europe and North America and making it as useful as possible for passengers.
Soon, we will allow the public and businesses to suggest and create connections or “hooks” between any two destination
Kevin and Italian, Tommaso met while completing their Masters degrees at UCD’s Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. They developed the app from NovaUCD, the centre for new ventures and entrepreneurs.
