Copeland to help launch chamber
Louis Copeland, who has built his Dublin-based, family-run tailoring business into an internationally renowned brand, will address the inaugural meeting of Skibbereen and District’s Chamber of Commerce.
He will speak about the importance of positivity in the face of adversity and about how, despite the recession, small businesses can have a competitive edge.
Sean Mahon, a founding member of the group, said that traditionally, the various business groupings in the area had focused on retail and tourism.
“But the chamber will aim to bring together all businesses in the area for a more cohesive approach to building a stronger future for our town.
“With more than 130 businesses operating in the town it is now more important than ever to ensure that Skibbereen is identified as a good place to do business and create new jobs.
“It is extremely important for the town to work with all businesses across all sectors to ensure a brighter future and greater economic wealth and progression.”
The chamber will act as an umbrella organisation to promote and work with all businesses in the area.
It will provide advice, networking opportunities and a support network to various business interests, including retail, tourism, professional services, and agricultural sectors. It will also act as a unified lobby group.
The chamber of commerce will launch at 7.45pm on Wednesday, Mar 28, in the West Cork Hotel.
