Bantry girl Carolyn O’Sullivan has made the final 75 from an entry list of thousands.

The 15-year-old from Coláiste Phobail Bheanntraí also entered the competition last year and made it to the semi-final stage of the last 300.

This time around, she has progressed to the final hurdle and voting is now open to the public on the Doodle 4 Google website.

The final 75 entries have been posted on the web browser giant’s site.

Her art teacher Jean O’Farrell said Carolyn put a lot of thought into her creation.

“She wanted to capture her love of art and Ireland so she included celtic signs and the O’Connell Street spire.

“She is absolutely thrilled to be short-listed. She’s incredibly artistic and it is definitely an aspect of the career Carolyn intends to pursue.”

Google doodles are the drawings that are designed on, around and through the Google logo on the web browsers homepage.

The theme for this years competition was “I wish...” and students had to come up with a design and title inspired by a wish.

Carolyn said her design shows her wish for the future is a life filled with art.

“Whatever my job is, I hope it will include art, I’ve also always wanted to live in Dublin so that’s why the spire is incorporated.”

Students from all over Ireland were invited to participate in the competition.

For the next stage of the competition the public are being asked to vote online for their favourite design.

The overall winning doodle will then be hosted on Google Ireland’s homepage for 24 hours and will be seen by millions of users.

The winner’s school will receive a €10,000 technology grant and both the student and teacher will be given laptops.
