No hospital will close due to budget cuts, says Reilly

NO HOSPITAL will close because of budget cuts or health service reconfiguration, according to Health Minister James Reilly.

He said there would be an “unavoidable” rationalisation of community nursing units.

Dr Reilly told the joint Oireachtas committee on health and children yesterday that the community nursing system was being reviewed because of money considerations, the moratorium on recruitment and the standards required by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).
