Bop While You Shop at Nenagh street festival

NENAGH is ready for its inaugural Bop While You Shop street festival, which takes place in the Co Tipperary town tomorrow.

Organised by local councillor Hughie McGrath, the event aims to treat shoppers to live music on a day aimed at bringing a bit of colour to Nenagh while at the same time boosting the local economy.

The main street will be closed to traffic to add to the festival atmosphere. A stage will be set up on the street where live music will be performed by acts like Louise Morrissey, Trudi Lalor, Marty Daniels and Norman Morrissey.

Elsewhere, former Tipperary hurling All-star and local shopkeeper Michael Cleary, who recently pedalled his way from Clonmel to Nenagh by go-kart for charity, will allow others put their karting skills to the test with a go-kart obstacle course.

Other attractions include a rodeo bull, vintage display, face painting and horseshoe throwing.

The event is supported by Nenagh Chamber of Commerce, with local shops contributing vouchers and other special offers to customers on the day.

“This is just a project to send the message out there to people that Nenagh is a good place to come to visit and a great town to shop in,” said Mr McGrath.
