Constituency wrap: Dublin North East

Trevor, who received 8.5% of first preference votes, was eliminated in the fifth count after receiving a total of 5,610 votes, well short of the quota of 9,870.

Fine Gael deputy leader, Dr James Reilly, with almost 10,200 first preferences, topped the poll and helped to bring in his running mate, Alan Farrell, who took a second seat for the party.

The two remaining seats went to Labour Senator Brendan Ryan, who received almost 20% of first preference votes, and was elected on the third count while Socialist Party candidate, Clare Daly, who received just over 15% of first preferences, was elected after reaching the quota on the sixth count.

Fianna Fáil support collapsed with two TDs, Darragh O’Brien and Michael Kennedy losing their seats.
