Engine fails on Ryanair flight

A RYANAIR flight from Dublin was forced to shut down one of its engines en route to Spain after a mechanical fault was identified on board.

Passengers travelling on the busy Ryanair Boeing B738 flight to Santander on Sunday afternoon were alerted to the danger while approaching the Spanish city.

An engine failure forced the pilot to turn off the engine in line with air safety procedures.

Emergency services were put on stand-by for a serious incident at Santander as the plane was guided into the airport.

However, despite concern over the safety of the crew and passengers, the aircraft landed safely.

A Ryanair spokesman confirmed that no injuries were recorded.

“Ryanair flight FR7152 from Dublin to Santander experienced an engine failure on approach to Santander.

“As a precaution, and in line with procedures, emergency services were requested to be on stand-by. The aircraft landed safely and all passengers disembarked as normal,” the spokesman said.

Due to repairs and safety checks the return flight to Dublin was delayed by over nine hours, a delay Ryanair described as “minimal” considering the situation.
