Outsourcing firm to create 425 jobs as 100 jobs generated in the aviation sector

Process outsourcing firm Stream Global Services confirmed it is to create 425 jobs over the next 12 months at a new plant in Dublin, while Sky Handling Partners announced it was creating a further 50 jobs at Dublin Airport.

Aer Lingus awarded a contract to Dublin Aero- space for the provision of a “significant portion” of its base maintenance services at Dublin Airport.

This contract, and other business, is expected to generate up to 50 additional highly skilled positions at Dublin Aerospace.

The remainder of Aer Lingus base maintenance services will continue to be carried out by Sabena Technics, it said.

These announcements came just 24 hours after the creation of 300 positions was announced for Dublin, Meath and Westmeath by Applegreen Motorway Service Areas.

It also announced it would create further positions when it rolled out its plans for Munster.

The Stream Global Services jobs are to be housed in a new €2.5m “dedicated solution centre” in Swords.

The company said it had entered into an agreement with a leading video game console manufacturer to provide European technical and customer support for a popular gaming product, which it would not name.

The new staff will be hired to provide technical support to users in 17 languages.

Dublin-based Stream currently employs 325 people providing customer support service in a number of areas including travel, telecommunications and consumer products.

“Recruitment is commencing immediately and I am looking forward to getting the team established in our new dedicated media and entertainment centre in Swords,” said Martin Schoppler, Stream Ireland country manager.

Sky Handling Partners said its 50 new roles were in check-in and aircraft servicing. It said the new positions were a result of increases to the flight schedules of its customer airlines and brings the number employed by SHP in Dublin and Shannon to more than 300.
