NAMANATION: Banks to benefit
That is according to a poll released yesterday which revealed 39% of people believe the agency is the wrong approach.
A further 29% did not have an opinion and 32% supported the NAMA plan.
The poll was conducted by Millward Brown Lansdowne before and during this week’s two-day debate in the Dáil on the more detailed NAMA bill.
It indicated a strong belief (59%) that the policy to buy toxic loans at discounted prices will benefit the banks the most.
Just 13% thought taxpayers would get the most out of NAMA.
More than a third said developers were in line for a windfall.
In addition, the poll of 1,000 people found 27% think the recession will last for more than five years.
