Dolores back in business
The 35-year-old who shot to fame with The Cranberries, who sold 40 million albums and had eight top-20 singles, is preparing to launch her single The Journey in July.
A spokeswoman for the Limerick-born singer said Dolores’s second solo album, No Baggage, would be released worldwide on August 24.
The singer, who was filming in Howth yesterday, is planning a gruelling series of events to promote what she hopes will be a smash hit, with trips pencilled in later this month to Spain, France, Holland, Italy and Germany.
She’s no stranger to Italy, having performed at the Vatican and sang duets with the late tenor Luciano Pavarotti.
Two years ago Dolores released her first solo album, Are You Listening?, which chronicled the chapters in her life following her departure from The Cranberries.
It earned her a European Border Breakers Award in 2008.
After releasing the album and conducting a worldwide tour Dolores took time off after suffering exhaustion and illness.
The mother-of-four is also planning a second world tour as a solo artist, but hasn’t yet released dates.
When taking a break from music and minding the children she is an avid painter.
During The Cranberries heydays of the 1990s their lead singer was known for her changing hairstyles, from shoulder-length to very short crop in myriad colours and shades.
