Neil Guilfoyle, aged 29, told detectives he was trying to raise €3,000 towards a mortgage, but later claimed he was under threat to repay a drugs debt.

Guilfoyle of 6 Tullyglass Crescent, Shannon, Co Clare, initially told Detective Sergeant Lar O’Brien that he was to be paid €3,000 and that he planned to use this money to get a mortgage.
