Irish woman drowns in US
Anita O’Donnell, 32, from Larkin’s Cross died in hospital after she got into difficulties while spending a weekend by a lake in Albany.
She was taking a break from her work as a bar manager in Boston and had gone camping with friends.
Some of the group had gone out on a boat.
Ms O’Donnell, according to local reports entered the water, and got into difficulties.
After she was rescued from the lake, attempts were made to revive her with CPR, but she was pronounced dead at The Memorial Hospital in North Conway.
Arrangements are being made to have her remains brought back to Limerick for burial next week.
She is survived by her parents Christopher and Marie, her sister Nicola and brother Mark.
Meanwhile, the family of Aidan Holly, the Irish soldier who plunged to his death from a wall in Spain, are hoping to repatriate his body this week.
The three-star private is expected to be buried with full military honours when his remains reach his home in Tarbert in north Kerry.
Yesterday the close-knit community was continuing to comfort his parents, Marie and Con, and his two brothers and sister.
