Ahern faces rough ride as Dáil resumes

EMBATTLED Taoiseach Bertie Ahern can expect a rough ride today as the Dáil returns after a day in which Fine Gael all but accused him of lying and Labour demanded his resignation.

Political tension soared yesterday as a vote of no confidence was threatened against the Government with accusations Mr Ahern may have misled the Dáil.

The Cabinet closed ranks around the Taoiseach in the aftermath of four days of intense cross-examination at the Mahon corruption probe.
