Couple questioned over drugs haul
More than 12kg of the drug, with a street value of €120,000, was seized.
The batch of drugs was found after drug squad detectives searched an apartment at Ballysimon Road.
A garda spokesman said: “It was a joint operation involving the Limerick Drugs Unit, customs and the National Drugs Unit.”
The two arrested are foreign nationals and are being held at Henry Street Garda Station.
Under the Drugs Act they can be held for up to seven days.
Gardaí believe that two pipe bomb devices found near the village of Emly on the Limerick Tipperary border were destined for a Limerick feud gang.
The bombs were sent to garda headquarters for forensic examination.
As the bombs were not primed the army bomb disposal team was not called to the scene.
Various kinds of explosive devices, including hand grenades, have been used in the ongoing feud by the opposing factions.
And a sophisticated mercury tilt switch car bomb was discovered by Limerick gardaí some time ago.
It is believed it was brought in to Limerick to blow up a member of one gang.
The bomb was designed for placement under a car.
