Leaders to face off in TV debates

MICHAEL McDowell, Pat Rabbitte, Trevor Sargent and Gerry Adams will fight it out tonight in the first live televised debate of the election campaign.

The leaders of the PDs, Labour, the Green Party and Sinn Féin will each be given 90 seconds to read a statement from a podium before the debate begins.

Prime Time presenter Mark Little will moderate the debate.
