THE Government is expected to lay aside almost €400 million for the running of the Oireachtas for the next three years.

The money will be used to cover the operational costs of the Dáil and Seanad — two of the three arms of the parliament. The costs of the office of the President, the first arm, will be met separately.

Funding levels for the Oireachtas Commission, the body which runs the parliament, were set out in a bill published on the Oireachtas website yesterday.
